Step up to the bench. Free Range gives you an open lane with no clock: cycle through eight target
layouts, run the trolley in and out, and put rounds downrange until something clicks. Every hit
earns XP, every rank unlocks a new weapon — nine of them, from a Glock 19 up to an M134.

If the device runs hot, cap the frame rate at 30 first — it roughly
halves the GPU load. LOW graphics drops the resolution and the glow pass.

PROGRESS
Your rank, unlocks and drill records save automatically to this browser — close the tab
and pick up where you left off next time. The code below is a portable backup: copy it to carry your
progress to another device or browser, or paste one in and RESTORE it here.
BRIEFING
Everything you see and hear here is generated in the browser at load time — no textures, no audio files,
no models. The concrete, the cinder block, the cardboard targets and every gunshot are synthesised from
code, which is why this whole range is one HTML file.
THE SOUND
Each shot is built from four layers, following published gunshot measurements: a sub-millisecond
transient, a band-limited muzzle blast whose centre frequency and duration follow the weapon class
(handguns peak at 500–2,000 Hz over 3–5 ms; rifles at 200–1,500 Hz over 5–8 ms;
shotguns at 100–800 Hz over 8–12 ms), a low thump in the 30–80 Hz chest-resonance band,
and — for supersonic rounds only — a 200–400 µs N-wave crack. The room is a convolution reverb
built from a procedural impulse response with discrete early reflections and a slapback off the bullet
trap. Fire something big enough and the mix ducks and darkens for a moment, the way ear protection does.
THE NUMBERS
Capacities, cyclic rates, muzzle velocities, muzzle energies and recoil energies are real published
figures — the AR-15's 3.9 ft·lb against the AK's 6.9, the 12 gauge's 23, the Barrett's 70.
Scoring follows USPSA: A/C/D zones worth 5/4/2, steel worth 5, and hit factor as points divided by time.
The drills are the real courses of fire — Bill Wilson's six-round A-zone standard, the Mozambique, and
Cooper's El Presidente with its twelve-alpha-under-ten-seconds benchmark.
SAFETY
Muzzle discipline is enforced: the range goes cold if you point anywhere but downrange. Obviously this
is a video game and not a substitute for instruction — real ranges have rules, and the people who run
them are worth listening to.
